Internships and other programs listed below are available predominately in the summer for high school students. Others offer them at various times. Application deadlines are most often in the winter or spring months as companies make plans early. Application and information can be downloaded below. Work at one of many LADWP facilities located throughout the City of Los Angeles. There are office, field, and technical work opportunities available for students this summer. EARN while you LEARN about LADWP. The Student Worker Program (SWP):EARN while you LEARN about LADWP. where students learn real work situations. Field trips and tours of LADWP facilities will expose students to many exciting job opportunities across many Department operations. Students will also be provided information that will help them learn how to prepare and apply for future entry-level civil service exams. General Eligibility/Qualifications: Applicants to the SWP must be City of Los Angeles residents and current full time students at a local high school who will be entering into their junior or senior year Fall 2009, or June graduates who will be continuing their education in the Fall. Work permits are required for students under 18 years of age. Also, student workers shall comply with the established policies and practices of the SWP and those of their local high school. Pay: $11.68 per hour DPW - Department of Public Works High School Internship Program This is a six-week paid internship during July and August. Download flyer and info from below. Bowen Foundation for Minority Interests in Media A 5 year paid internship with connection into the entertainment industry that are usually not possible for students. Hollywood CPR offers vocational training in the trades and skills required for careers in the Artists, Crafts and Technicians departments of the entertainment industry to primarily underserved and under-represented populations. Innerspark Receive intensive training from professionals in music, theatre, video and film, visual arts, dance, creative writing, and animation and live on the campus of California Institute of the Arts in Valencia. http://innerspark.us LACMA Interns meet after school one day per week, from late September through April. An exciting week-long summer program at UCLA for high school students interested in learning more about the American legal system. The cost of the camp is $1200 and covers room, board, and transportation while attending camp. It is the student's responsibility to pay for transportation to and from camp.
